How Vinylen handles information while you listen.
Updated October 2, 2026
Who is responsible
Nguyen Nhut Truong, operating under the DiscCam brand, is responsible for Vinylen and the information we handle to provide the app, website, and support. Contact us at truongtomato.contact@gmail.com for support or privacy requests.
Vinylen has no account system, advertising, or recurring subscription. Information is still processed to connect music services, validate purchases, deliver this website, and respond to you.
Apple Music and Spotify
With your permission, Apple’s MusicKit lets Vinylen search the Apple Music catalog, read available library playlists, retrieve song and artwork information, check playback eligibility, and play music. Your searches and music requests go to Apple. Apple manages your account and subscription; Vinylen does not request your Apple password.
In “Follow Music app” mode, macOS Automation lets Vinylen read the current track and playback state and control Music. Artwork can come from a local music file. For missing covers, Vinylen may send song, artist, and album search terms to Apple’s catalog and download matching artwork from Apple’s servers.
Spotify connects through local macOS Automation. Vinylen reads the current track, playback state, identifiers, and artwork URL, and sends playback commands. It does not provide a Spotify web login or request your Spotify password. Cover images are downloaded from the artwork servers specified by the Spotify desktop app.
Network requests expose connection information, such as your IP address, to the receiving service. Apple and Spotify handle their own accounts and listening activity under Apple Music & Privacy and Spotify’s Privacy Policy.
Information kept on your device
Local preferences remember your music selection, background, needle sound, and setup choices. On Mac they also remember the service, playback mode, window position, and player size; on iPad they remember the optional keep-awake setting. The app also saves the most recent native playback selection, including track and collection identifiers, title, artist, album, and artwork URL, and up to six recent selected collections.
On Mac, upgrade reminders use local counters, the last observed track identity and whether it was counted, and the last reminder time. These counters observe playback state; they do not record audio. Preferences, recent music, artwork caches, and Mac reminder counters stay on the device rather than being uploaded to RevenueCat.
Artwork is cached in memory and in disk caches; Spotify artwork caching applies only to Mac. Each disk cache is configured for up to 200 images or 96 MB, with a 30-day freshness limit. Old entries are trimmed when new artwork is written; an inactive cache can retain old files beyond 30 days.
Preferences, saved selections, and reminder state remain until replaced or removed. Uninstalling can leave local files behind. Contact us for help removing Vinylen’s local data; we cannot remotely erase files on your device. Removing local files does not erase Apple’s or RevenueCat’s purchase records.
Purchases and RevenueCat
Apple handles payment for Vinylen Pro Lifetime. Vinylen does not receive payment-card details. RevenueCat processes purchase and transaction information, product identifiers, Pro entitlement status, and an automatically generated anonymous customer ID to validate purchases, restore access, and provide purchase reporting. The integration also exchanges technical information needed to deliver that service.
Vinylen does not supply a custom user ID, optional customer contact attributes, song titles, listening history, or artwork to RevenueCat. An anonymous customer ID distinguishes purchase records without a Vinylen login; it does not mean that no data is collected. RevenueCat also caches customer and purchase status on your device.
Purchase records support validation and restoration of the lifetime entitlement and can persist after the app is removed. Provider retention also depends on the applicable service agreements and legal obligations, including records needed for disputes or financial reporting. A local uninstall is not a provider-data deletion request. Contact us about information processed for Vinylen; Apple separately handles its payment and account records.
See RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy, its purchase-data disclosure guidance, and Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Optional app analytics
Google Analytics for Firebase is off unless you explicitly choose “Share optional usage analytics” in Vinylen’s Settings. Previous beta preferences do not count as consent. If you opt in, Vinylen sends app usage and basic device information to Google Firebase servers to understand whether setup succeeds, which broad presentation choices are useful, and whether the upgrade flow works. Music and purchases remain usable if you do not opt in. You can turn collection off in Settings at any time.
After opt-in, Vinylen sends a small fixed set of events covering music-connection attempts and result categories, opening the music picker, the first confirmed playback, background choice, upgrade-screen presentation and actions, and purchase result categories. Mac events can also include welcome steps and Desktop, Floating, or Window placement. These events can include the Vinylen platform and broad music route, such as Apple Music native playback or Spotify companion mode.
Vinylen never sends song titles, artist names, album or playlist names, search text, artwork URLs, email addresses, Apple account identifiers, or RevenueCat customer identifiers to Firebase. It does not send individual play, pause, or skip actions or listening duration.
When enabled, Firebase automatically processes technical and usage information needed for analytics, including a resettable app-instance identifier, app version, device and operating-system information, app lifecycle and session activity, general location derived from masked IP information, and StoreKit purchase events. Vinylen does not use Firebase advertising-ID support, Google Signals, advertising personalization, precise location, or a Vinylen user ID. Analytics event-data retention is set to two months.
Turning analytics off stops future collection from that installation and resets Firebase analytics data stored locally, including its app-instance identifier. It does not automatically remove information already processed on Google’s servers. Contact us before resetting if you want help with a privacy request concerning existing analytics data. See Google’s Privacy Policy, Firebase Privacy and Security, and Firebase Analytics data collection.
Email support and privacy requests
If you email us, we receive your email address, any name you provide, your message, and attachments you choose to send. We use them to respond, troubleshoot, and handle your request. Our contact mailbox uses Gmail, so Google processes the correspondence to provide email services under its Privacy Policy. Support emails are not sent to RevenueCat as customer contact attributes.
Send only information relevant to your request. Please do not send passwords, payment-card details, or unrelated personal information. If purchase identification is necessary, we may ask for limited transaction information rather than your Apple credentials.
Support correspondence is stored in our contact mailbox. You can email us to request deletion of your messages and attachments. We will handle the request as described under “Your choices and rights” below, including any records that must be kept to meet legal obligations or resolve disputes.
This website and diagnostics
This website is publicly hosted on Vercel at vinylen-web.vercel.app. Requests pass through Vercel, which processes request and connection information, including IP addresses, for website delivery, operation, and security. Its retention depends on the service and legal requirements; we do not promise a specific deletion period for provider logs. See Vercel’s Privacy Notice.
The website code contains no accounts, contact forms, advertising, embedded music players, analytics package, or application cookies. Images are served from this website and fonts are system fonts. The animation control keeps its state in memory rather than saving a browser preference.
We have not enabled website analytics or external log drains. Vercel still processes operational and security information to host and protect the website.
The Mac app writes some timing and error information to macOS system logs for troubleshooting. No app-owned remote crash-reporting service or advertising SDK is configured. Firebase Analytics is the limited usage service described above; it is not a crash-reporting service. macOS manages system-log storage; these logs are separate from the artwork caches.
Providers and international processing
Apple, Spotify, RevenueCat, Firebase/Google, Vercel, and Google’s Gmail service process the information needed for the services described above. Providers may process information outside your country. RevenueCat describes customer-data storage in the United States; Vercel and Google describe international processing. Their linked privacy information explains their practices and transfer safeguards. We do not represent that all information stays on your device or in a single country.
Your choices and rights
On Mac, you can change your music source and manage Apple Music and Automation permissions in System Settings → Privacy & Security. On iPad, manage Apple Music access in iPadOS Settings. Revoking permission stops the related access but does not automatically clear existing local data. You can stop future Firebase Analytics collection using the analytics toggle in Vinylen’s Settings.
Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, receive a copy of, restrict, or object to the processing of personal information, and to complain to a relevant data-protection authority. Email truongtomato.contact@gmail.com with your request. We may ask for information needed to verify that the request concerns your data and to locate the relevant records. We respond in accordance with applicable law; some records may need to be retained to meet legal obligations or resolve disputes.
For data processed by RevenueCat or Firebase for Vinylen, contact us so we can handle the request with the provider where appropriate. For Apple or Spotify account information, use their privacy controls. We cannot access or erase unrelated information in those accounts. There is no Vinylen account to delete.
Updates to this policy will be published here with an updated date. Visit Support for help with connections, purchases, analytics choices, or local data.
